Derby Cathedral Mothers Union gain Bronze Award for Rise Up Campaign

The Cathedral Mothers Union have just gained a Bronze Award from the Rise Up against domestic abuse campaign.

Sadly domestic abuse can happen to anyone from any walk of life. It is hoped that Mothers Union members and churches will work together to become aware of the charge and will get involved in the Rise up challenge.

Why Rise Up?  The acronym stands for Respond, Inform, Support, Empower, Pray.

There are bronze, silver and gold awards for churches taking taking part and who complete various actions. We have received a bronze award because MU members have put posters – which raise awareness and give telephone numbers to access help – in various public places (churches, halls, toilets etc).

We are committed to praying for those affected by domestic violence (including victims, survivors and perpetrators) and we have connected with local domestic abuse support organisations to offer moving in and moving on packages (packs of everyday essentials for those who have had to leave their homes).
