Derby Cathedral is a place for everyone to explore faith, life and heritage. It is a place of sanctuary and community, where anyone can experience light, beauty and innovation at the heart of our city.

The generosity of our supporters sustains all of this. It funds inspiring worship, exceptional music, and pastoral care, alongside arts, culture and community events that serve the people of Derby and Derbyshire.

Why your support matters

Running the Cathedral and our regular services costs £12,500 every week. Since funding support from the Church of England and Government is limited, we rely on income from events, fundraising, and the generosity of people like you. Every donation, large or small, helps keep our doors open, our music alive, and our historic building standing for future generations.

Your support helps us to:

• Keep our doors open every day to welcome thousands of visitors every year
• Offer inspirational worship and music through daily services and special events
• Deliver our school and community music outreach programme
• Be a hub for arts and culture events
• Conserve and develop the heritage of one of Derby’s oldest buildings
• Build a sustainable Cathedral for generations to come.

How to give

Our preferred way to donate is through the parish Giving Scheme, which is a simple, secure, and efficient direct debit service. Giving this way reduces our administration costs and provides the Cathedral with reliable, regular income. You can also opt into Gift Aid, which adds 25% to your donation at no extra cost to you.

There are a variety of ways that our supporters choose to give:

• Regular Giving allows us to plan our activities with confidence. Our preferred way to donate is through the Parish Giving Scheme, which is a simple, secure, and efficient direct debit service. Giving this way reduces our administration costs and provides the Cathedral with reliable, regular income. You can also opt into Gift Aid, which adds 25% to your donation at no extra cost to you.
• Other ways to give regularly include becoming a Music Patron or a Friend of Derby Cathedral.
• Supporting our Appeals and giving one-off gifts for specific purposes is another way of supporting your Cathedral. Every donation, large or small, makes a difference and there are donation stations around the Cathedral.
• Some supporters choose to donate through Give As You Earn Payroll Giving, whilst others raise funds through their online shopping at Easyfundraising.
• Leaving a gift in your Will is a way of leaving a lasting impact on the life of the Cathedral. Derby Cathedral relies on supporters remembering us in their Will and previous gifts from supporters have allowed us to complete some transformational work here.
