Purpose of role:   

Derby Cathedral is looking to strengthen its Hospitality Team with new members to support its various Cathedral events throughout the year. The role assists in the hosting of concerts and events in Derby Cathedral by greeting and serving audience members as they arrive at the building and throughout the event.

Key Tasks:   

·                  Setting up and preparing the bar area, offering a variety of alcoholic and non-alcoholic hot and cold beverages. 

·                  Welcoming audience members as they arrive.

·                  Serving customers, taking orders and processing cash and card payments.  

·                  To be an evacuation steward in the event of an emergency during the event. 

·                  Clearing up and tidying after concerts and events.

Previous bar or event experience is not essential as training will be given but a friendly and approachable personality is a must.

Location:  Derby Cathedral, Iron Gate, Derby 

 Support and supervision:  

This will be provided by the event manager on duty for the performance. With training support from the commercial manager and diary administrator.

You will be one of a large team of staff, with the opportunity to work at a variety of different sorts of concerts and events. You will be able to meet and greet both regular and new members of the audience.  You will be an integral part in the smooth running of concerts and events.     

Personal qualities and requirements:  

You will need to be welcoming and friendly to all who come through the Cathedral doors. You will need to be in the Cathedral at an agreed time in advance of concerts and events and prepared to stay to help after the concert or event is finished. A smart standard of dress will be required.   

There is no requirement for a Disclosure and Barring Service Check for this role.

This role is not employed by the Cathedral, successful applicants will submit invoices and be responsible for their own tax and national insurance payments.
