Derby Cathedral Embroiderers - Circle of Life Project Unveiling

Members of the Cathedral’s Embroidery Workshop, together with Dean Peter, attended the unveiling of the completed ‘Circle of Life’ embroidery project.

Our Workshop was one of 12 cathedrals around the country working together on this piece of Opus Anglicanum designed by iconographer Aiden Hart.

It was created to celebrate the 400^th anniversary of the Worshipful Company of Upholders receiving their Royal Charter from King Charles I in 1626.  The Workshop volunteers were invited to attend the Grand Reveal at The Guildhall in London last week. They took part in an exhibition of works during the morning and enjoyed a splendid luncheon in the presence of the Lady Mayor of London, together with 400 others.

Derby’s completed panel can be seen at “4 o’clock” (silver goblet, vines and a gold background). The Circle of Life will be displayed in participating cathedrals over the next three years.
