We are delighted to share that Derby Cathedral has been awarded a grant through the Mental Health Small Grants Scheme, an initiative led by Erewash Voluntary Action and Joined Up Care Derbyshire. This scheme has supported voluntary and community groups across Derby and Derbyshire in strengthening their work to promote positive mental health and wellbeing.
Thanks to this funding, we have created a dedicated Wellbeing Space within the Cathedral Centre – a quiet, welcoming place where clergy, staff, volunteers, and visitors can take time to relax, reflect, and practice mindfulness. The space offers a peaceful environment with resources such as books on mindfulness and stress management, helping to encourage positive wellbeing for all who use it.
The Wellbeing Space also serves as a place of respite for those experiencing anxiety or distress, providing a calm and accessible setting for moments of reflection and relief. It is an important step in supporting the mental health of our Cathedral community, encouraging intentional breaks and moments of stillness in the midst of our busy daily lives.
We are incredibly grateful to the Mental Health Small Grants Scheme for making this possible, and we look forward to seeing the positive impact this space will have on our community.
