We’re thrilled to announce £244, 404.08 support from The National Lottery Heritage Fund for Derby Cathedral: Building Foundations for the Future project which will support the delivery of the Chapter’s Strategic Development Plan and bring organisational and financial resilience to our Grade 1 Listed building.

The National Lottery Heritage Fund is the largest funder for the UK’s heritage. Using money raised by National Lottery players we support projects that connect people and communities to heritage. Our vision is for heritage to be valued, cared for and sustained for everyone, now and in the future. From historic buildings, our industrial legacy and the natural environment, to collections, traditions, stories and more. Heritage can be anything from the past that people value and want to pass on to future generations. We believe in the power of heritage to ignite the imagination, offer joy and inspiration, and to build pride in place and connection to the past.

We are delighted to announce the appointment of Rosa Straw, Project Officer, for The National Lottery Heritage Fund project; Derby Cathedral: Building Foundations for the Future. Rosa comes to Derby Cathedral with a wealth of knowledge and experience in delivering funded projects.
The first tender has been issued for the writing of a Conservation Management Plan (CMP). The CMP is a formal document that sets out how the building and its associated heritage assets will be cared for, conserved and managed over time.  A CMP is one of the documents widely used for historic buildings, especially those of significant cultural or architectural importance, such as Derby Cathedral.
We will make further announcements in due course, including how people can get involved and participate in consultation workshops during 2026.
