We are looking to appoint two Commissioners Canons here at Derby Cathedral

A unique opportunity has risen to come and join the team at Derby Cathedral where we have ambitious and innovative plans to continue our development and growth, with the Chapter’s Strategic Development Plan providing a framework for the future.

We are looking to appoint two Commissioners Canons:

The Canon for Community Outreach and Social Justice, and the Canon for Worship and Music.  These roles have arisen respectively due to relocation to the Diocese in Europe and a long-planned retirement.

With strong collaborative leadership from an established Dean, the Chapter is on the cusp of re-envisioning what it means to be Derby Cathedral for the mid-twenty first century, in a dynamic multi-cultural city with plans for significant growth and in a diocese which is commemorating its centenary in 2027.

The Canon for Community Outreach and Social Justice will lead on bringing transformational change to those in most need by developing and delivering the Chapter’s social justice and learning strategies, as well as continuing to ensure a healthy culture is woven throughout all we do.

The Canon for Worship and Music will lead the development and delivery of worship, liturgy and music and with the support of a highly motivated and ambitious music team, will focus on the strategic area of Inspirational Worship and Music which includes a growing music and schools’ programme.
