Derby Cathedral supports Treetops Hospice at Moonlight Walk

Recently some of the Cathedral Team took part in the Moonlight Walk 10K Challenge. The event raised money for families and patients in Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire, helping them receive Hospice at Home nursing and respite care. The cathedral remained open for the event and saw 280 of the walk participants spill into the nave to hear the Voluntary Choir sing and light candles in memory of loved ones. The event had 350 people take part.

Laura Fraser, Commercial Manager said of the event “It’s wonderful to have the Cathedral involved in such a worthwhile cause and the county is very lucky to have this resource available to local residents. It was such an amazing night that raised over £42,000! The Cathedral team collaboratively raised £514, thank you to everyone for all your support.”

£12 of donations helps a patient receive an hour of Hospice at Home nursing care. The amount raised from the evening gives 287 local people receive a night of Hospice of Home care. A much needed and invaluable resource for local people when experiencing difficult times.
