Derby Cathedral’s Tree of Light gathers messages of kindness and love at Christmas

Written on 12/11/2021

Derby Cathedral is inviting people to write a message of kindness and love, for a suggested donation of £3,  that will be displayed on a beautiful Tree of Light in the Cathedral during the Christmas period.

Everyone is invited to take some time away from the hustle and bustle at this time of year, and enjoy the peace and quiet of the Cathedral building for reflection, remembrance and light.

Donations raised from the Tree of Light will go towards the ministry of the Cathedral which includes work to help refugees and asylum seekers.  As a Cathedral of Sanctuary, Derby Cathedral is committed to helping those in our communities who are lonely and vulnerable at all times of year.

The Dean of Derby, the Very Revd Peter Robinson says ‘We welcome everyone into the calm and beautiful surroundings of your Cathedral, to admire the sparkling lights on the tree and to write a message at this time of year.  Our doors are open to all.’

The Derby Cathedral Tree of Light will be displayed inside the Cathedral and visitors are very welcome to come in, write a message and see the tree in place between 4th December to 6th January.
