Derby Cathedral is delighted to announce that it has received a grant from the Cathedral Music Trust’s Diamond Fund for Choristers. The grant will support an expansion in the Cathedral’s Chorister vocal training programme for a period of three years.
Derby Cathedral is one of 36 Choral Foundations that have received a grant in the 2021 special revenue grants programme, which was set up to assist Cathedral, Church and Abbey Choirs recover from the devastating financial impact of lockdown. Earlier this year and late last year, the Cathedral was also fortunate to receive grants through the Cathedral Choirs’ Emergency Fund.
Director of Music, Alexander Binns said, ‘This grant will be invaluable in allowing us to build on our existing vocal training programme for Cathedral Choristers after the difficulties of lockdown, allowing them to receive more regular and thorough vocal tuition from our two in house Singing Tutors, Paul Marshall and Helen Brackenbury. Choristers will benefit greatly from this expansion in our one-to-one tuition as part of the Choristership package.’
The Dean of Derby, the Very Revd Dr Peter Robinson said, ‘We are hugely grateful to the Cathedral Music Trust for this financial support and all the work they have done over this difficult period to assist Cathedral Choirs across the UK.’
