Gathering Light is an installation created by Louise Beer as part of FORMAT 23, which is the UK’s leading international contemporary festival of photography and related media.
Gathering Light was created by taking photographs of the sky, over 40 consecutive days to reflect the 40 days of Lent. A transitionary video installation of Louise’s work can be seen in the intimate and peaceful surroundings of St Katharine’s Chapel, a hidden treasure of Derby Cathedral.
The installation reflects the artists experience of grief, and how watching the ever-changing skies has helped her to think of other days, other nights. Other moments and other shared memories.
The exhibition is free to enter. Donations welcome to support the care and work of Derby Cathedral.
Please check derbycathedral.org for opening times and times of services (the Chapel will not be accessible to visitors during services)
Please note:
Gathering Light will not be open to the public on Good Friday 7th April
Unfortunately, Gathering Light is not accessible for wheelchair users
