‘Under The Stars’ is the final instalment in a special concert trilogy being performed across Derby City to celebrate 30 years of Derwent Brass, Derbyshire’s finest Brass Band.
The programme will feature a wealth of space inspired and related music, most notably of which being the entirety of Gustav Holst’s ‘The Planets’ Suite, expertly transcribed for brass band, organ, voices harp and more by Stephen Roberts, performed by Derwent Brass, Music Director Jack Capstaff and special guests.
Written between 1914-1916 by British composer Gustav Holst, ‘The Planets’ represents all the known planets of the Solar System seen from Earth at the time, and their corresponding astrological character, including Jupiter and Mars.
This performance of the planets is a fitting prelude to the Cathedrals’ Gaia art installation starting on 22nd September.
