The most-visited attraction in Derby, the Cathedral has recently undergone extensive renovation and is now attracting even more visitors. Visitors are appreciating the building, its monuments and history, undertaking tours of the Tower and enjoying the calm reflective environment of the Cathedral.
Derby Cathedral Tours
Visitors are welcome to visit the Cathedral, look around or sit and reflect in their own time. Guide books are available to purchase and floor plans are available free from the Ministry of Welcome desk.
A tour of the Cathedral can be pre booked, for a group, organisation or club, with an experienced guide. The Cathedral Guide will provide information on the history of the Cathedral and monuments, providing insight into the Cathedral at work. £4.50 per Adult, £2.25 per child.
There is the opportunity to climb one of the tallest church towers in England, at 212 feet and having 189 steps. Festive climbs are available, to include mince pies and mulled wine, on selective dates. Also dates are available during the year to climb the tower as a standalone experience, or maybe combined with a tour of the Cathedral. Children must be over 8 years of age. Requires suitable footwear and general medical fitness.
Discover the Cathedral’s Silver Treasures
View and discuss the history of the Cathedral’s treasures, with the Keeper of the Treasures. 30 minute talk, can be added to a tour of the Cathedral, or standalone talk for a minimum of 10 people, at a cost of £1.75 per person.
Bridge Chapel Visit
Visit the Bridge Chapel, the Chapel of St Mary on the Bridge, a five minute walk from the Cathedral, with an experienced guide. £1.75 per person.
