Memorial service for Annie Hall

Derby Cathedral will hold a memorial service for Annie Hall on Monday, 9 December at 2.30pm. All are welcome. A condolence book is in the Cathedral now for messages of sympathy.

Mrs Hall, who was a former High Sheriff of Derbyshire and chair of Derby Cathedral Council, lost her life as a result of the recent flooding in Derbyshire, on Friday 8th November.

Revd Canon Dr Elizabeth Thomson, Acting Dean of Derby Cathedral, said: "The date has been agreed with Mrs Hall's family and we are talking with her husband Michael to arrange the service.

"We have also opened a condolence book in the Cathedral as it was felt by the family that there would be a lot of good stories to tell involving Annie and it would give people a chance to express their thoughts."

On hearing the news of Mrs Hall's death, the Rt Revd Libby Lane, Bishop of Derby, said: "I am shocked and saddened by this tragic news. The pain and grief of Annie’s death is felt by the whole community at Derby Cathedral and throughout the Diocese of Derby.

"My prayers are with her family at this very sad time.

"Annie’s faithful professionalism, supportive nature and wonderful sense of humour meant she was much appreciated as chair of Derby Cathedral Council.

"Throughout Derbyshire, Annie was known for her personable and caring character, and for bringing laughter wherever she went. She will be much missed.

"Derby Cathedral, and the Diocese of Derby, will continue to pray for Annie’s family, and for all those affected by the flooding, offering support and help where we can."
